Celebrate the Queen's birthday in LondonJune is a great time to come to London to see the palace trooping the colour. This happens every year on the 12th June to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday and has been a tradition in London since 1820: A great opportunity to be part of history.
The ceremony begins at St James Park where the troops are greeted by the Queen for inspection, then led to the home of the Royal family, Buckingham Palace. Guns are fired in Green Park and at the Tower of London after the Queen salutes, and then she joins the rest of the family on the balcony to watch the RAF fly past.
Tickets are given to the general public, but have to be applied for in writing in the early part of the year (January or February) then there is a ballot. However there is plenty of opportunity to see the celebrations along the Mall towards the palace.
