Get fit, save lives

Join the Race for Life in Hyde ParkOn Sunday July 19th Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life comes to Hyde Park. Thousands of women will walk, jog, or run five kilometres to raise valuable funds for the charity. The event is non-competitive and women of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate. Why not improve your fitness and help save lives by taking part?

Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s flagship fundraising event. Originally organised to raise awareness of female cancers, it has since become one of the largest fundraising events in the United Kingdom. Since 1994 four million women have raised over £240million in sponsorship. Last month, Race for Life Glasgow broke the previous participation record of 13,200 when over 17,000 women showed their support. This year the charity hopes that 680,000 women will raise over £62.5million.

The event itself is women-only but men are encouraged to help out on the day and support the participants.

The Race for Life is just one of hundreds of fundraising events Cancer Research UK organises around the country every year. The money raised will go towards funding a team of over 4,500 scientists, doctors and nurses around the country, who carry out major research work on behalf of the charity.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through scientific research and was recently placed in the top three biomedical research institutions in the world. Since their inception, they have discovered new ways to beat cancer that together have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across the world.
