Music in the capital during July!

London is known for its music, it has borne out some of the most famous music scenes and periods in world history. From its roots in the courts of the English royalty and their symphony orchestras to the emergence of Rock and Punk music through the 20th century, London has played a massive part in World music throughout history.

Over the coming month it seems to be a very busy period within London with a fantastic range of concerts in the capital. Running from the 1st to the 5th of July at Wembley, Take That will be taking to the stage in what has been billed as some of the most spectacular concerts this summer. After they reformed in 2006 and the subsequent release of ‘Beautiful World’ and ‘The Circus’, Take That have grown to be one of the most popular pop groups of modern times. Their recent album ‘The Circus’ is one of the fastest selling albums of all time, selling 1 million copies by its 19th day in UK shops. Another of the most popular UK groups will be performing at Wembley stadium just a few days later, Oasis will be performing from the 9th to the 12th of July, which sees the return of the Gallagher brothers to familiar territory at Wembley where they last played in 2000.

Another major event in this summer’s musical calendar is the Summer Series at Somerset House, running from the 9th to the 17th of July and it includes some of the best groups around today. Particular highlights include Lilly Allen on the 11th, scheduled to finish her ‘Brilly – Allent World Tour’ in June, she is taking in one last performance at the Somerset House festival before finishing off at a host of summer festivals during August and with support from Just Jack it looks set to be one of the standout concerts in the series. Other highly anticipated performers during the festival include the genre bending Mars Volta on the 13th, The Ting Tings on the 14th and the Australian drum n bass act turned alternative rock group Pendulum on the 15th. A full list of performers can be seen below,
